…it’s a new year ( and best wishes to all for a great year ), so it’s time for a new blog…first of all, our first six months as a real band seemed to go pretty well…thanks to everyone who supported us, came out to the shows, bought t-shirts, taped and distributed the music, danced, and helped move equiptment…thanks also to our team behind the curtain, Barney Kilpatrick ( and his staff ), and Barron Ruth and Skyline Music…so, on to the news…we completed the last track for our upcoming CD last week…the tunes, a mix of originals and covers, are being sanded, painted, and polished right now by mixmaster Matt Grondin…we’ll keep you posted as to when the release date will be…we are now in the process of booking dates for 2012…look for us in Colorado in February and we’ll be returning to the Twin Cities in March…check the calendar for all of the updates…we’re looking forward to playing a ton of shows and seeing a lot of friends this coming year…see ya’ll down the road…

The Officially Unofficial Bootleg, Vol. 1
For those of you in New Orleans, starting on Monday be on the lookout for THE OFFICIALLY UNOFFICIAL BOOTLEG, VOL. 1. No one knows how you can get one, but if you’re lucky someone might just slip one into your hands. One thing’s for sure though, if you get a copy, make sure to burn one for a friend and pass it on!

Awesome Weekend in the Southeast
well, we’re back from our weekend jaunt to Atlanta, Macon, and the Magnolia Fest…needless to say, we had a great time…we also have some shout-outs…huge thanks to Kirsten, Joe, Rex, and the entire staff of the Cox Capitol Theatre in Macon for an extraordinary display of hospitality!…a first class venue that’s been beautifully renovated…and sounds terrific…the Magnolia Fest was a kick…thanks and much appreciation to Judy for including us…and to Les and his crack stage crew…you guys were on the case…thanks to the Lee Boys for the use of the hi-hat…also to Roosevelt, the Col. ( ret. ), and Matt for sitting in and helping us raise the roof…and, of course, gigantic thanks to all of our family, friends, and fans ( new and old ) for coming out and supporting the shows…we couldn’t be there if ya’ll weren’t…so, we’re trying to finish up our CD in the next few weeks with an eye to releasing it by the new year…we hope to see everyone at our Tipitina’s show on 11/25 ( that’s right, the night after Thanksgiving )…the Joe Krown Trio will be opening…then it’s off to San Francisco for three nights at the Brick and Mortar…with a ” just added ” Camile Baudoin doing the opening honors…he’ll be playing material off of his newly released CD, ” Old Bayou Blues”…of course, he’ll also be sitting in with the Suspects each night…that about covers it for now…see ya’ll down the road…

Upcoming Shows and Surprises!
well, it looks like it’s blogging time again…the Suspects have been on hold the last couple of weeks while Jake and Kevin were traveling the outer limits of the known universe with the Dirty Dozen…they’re back…and so are we…Smith’s Ole Bar in Atlanta will be the scene for the first of three shows this week…we’ll be there on Thurs., 10/20…Fri., 10/21 we will be throwing down at the Cox Capitol Theatre in Macon…we hope to see old friends and new fans…on Sat.,10/22, we will be at the Magnolia Fest…catch us at the main stage for a 2:30 set…towards the end of our set we will be joined by the Lee Boys for a jam that will morph into their set…also, there are rumours of us being joined by none other than the Col. himself…we are excited to be at Magnolia Fest and having a chance to check some other music out…things are happening behind the curtains as well…we are working on a new CD…two tracks to go…hopefully, we will have it out by the end of the year…and for our hometown friends and fans ( aren’t they the same? ), we will be at Tipitina’s on Fri.,11/25…the night after Thanksgiving…come out and dance off the dinner…also, for those in the bay area, we will be at the Brick and Mortar in S.F. 12/1,2,3…an east coast trip ( with a stop at Brooklyn Bowl on 12/17 ) and the Bond-Fire Fest in Fl. rounds out the year…we are planning to be on the road a lot in the coming year and hope to see all of ya’ll…also, thanks for all of the support and positive feedback we’ve gotten over the last few months…it means a lot…and in the end, a band can’t make it without its fans…we look forward to playing for eveyone in 2012!!

Summer Plans
…hi all…first off, we want to thank everyone who came out Tues. night and helped us kick off our residency at dba in New Orleans…we’ll be there through July 12, so if you missed last week you still have time to check us out…for those not in the Big Easy, hold on…we’ll be in Ft. Lauderdale at the Bamboo Room on July 22, 23…we’re looking forward to seeing our Monkey Krewe friends and digging in to some great Cuban cuisine down there…Sunday, July 24, we’ll be opening for Poi Dog Pondering in Chicago at the Sheffield Garden Walk ( 6:00 P.M. )…July 27 will find us in the van and headed up to The Broadway Oyster Bar in St. Louis, a cool little club that features lots of New Orleans acts…on Thurs., 7/28, we’ll be tearing it up at Fitzgerald’s in Chicago…if there is a Tipitina’s equivalent in the Windy City, this is it…host Bill Fitzgerald has kept this place going for over thirty years…no surprise since this is a great place to play…and a great place to listen…the mid-west odyssey continues up to Minneapolis where we will be playing at The Cabooze on Fri., 7/29… (more…)

Residency at D.B.A. and more
…it’s been a busy two months…but now that the smoke has cleared and the dust has settled from this year’s Jazz Fest, and there is enough of a break from the road, it seems like a good time to get a word in edgewise…while we’ve all been busy with our parent bands things have started to happen…first of all, we will be playing Tuesdays ( June 14, 21, 28 ) at d.b.a. ( 618 Frenchman St., NOLA )…we start at 10:00 P.M….if you’ve never been, it’s a cool club and a great place to hear music…call everybody you know and tell to them to come on down…big crowds make the band play crazier…and… (more…)

Welcome!
…hello and welcome to the world of the New Orleans Suspects…if you are new to this website, don’t worry…we are too…the Suspects started informally about a year and a half ago…mostly playing under the radar at the Maple Leaf in New Orleans…Willie Green and myself have been playing together for around fifteen years…we’ve even had a couple of bands ( most notably Monkey Ranch and GPS )…and for years we‘ve talked about having a full time band…circumstances have, until now, always prevented that…finally, in 2010 things began to change…the Neville Brothers drastically slowed down their touring and the Radiators decided to retire…with nothing really to hold us back, we decided… (more…)
